The Theory of Learning
We endeavour to provide quality, relevant educational learning outcomes guides. STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) educational extension activities and experiments with all our themed packs for parents, caregivers and educators alike.
We passionately believe that every child deserves to enjoy learning. We have experienced first-hand the many benefits of sensory and heuristic play, differing approaches to learning in the younger years, and are enthusiastic about hands-on STEAM.
Learning as a cornerstone for development as children grow. Watching children play you can observe them full of joy, energy, and inquisitiveness. Playing very much in the present; they concentrate deeply, express amazement and continue to try until they accomplish what they had envisioned. They dare to explore and experiment repeatedly, which is always fabulous to see.
We firmly believe that by providing a child with carefully chosen resources presented in a thoughtful appealing way. Assists us in wholeheartedly joining their world of play and embracing a shared narrative that shows learning is limitless and fun.
Sensory play is an exciting interactive way to facilitate your child’s natural curiosity. Nurturing their development in a kind, supportive way that’s fun for everyone.
Sensory play supports your child’s brain development. Enhancing memory, observational and problem-solving skills. It promotes the child’s ability to complete complex tasks through trial and error. Sensory play aids fine motor skills and hand eye co-ordination through tactile play. Supporting language and communications skills, through shared narratives and storytelling. Developing early numeracy, literacy and scientific concepts whilst promoting a greater understanding of the world around them. All through play!
Heuristic play, is open ended play; where children learn through their senses exploring everyday objects and materials from the ‘real world’. Exploring and discovering for themselves. Heuristic play develops sensory awareness and problem-solving skills. Access to everyday materials to play with, stimulates; innovation, creativity and imagination. As a child discovers and creates ways to use the object or material presented to them. These characteristics are essential for learning and development.
Heuristic play uses multiple senses leading to child questions of why? And what if? Thoughts that only come about by exploring. This builds critical thinking foundations. When a child is exposed to a variety of items that range in size, shape, texture and weight. This type of play aids mathematical conceptual learning.
Heuristic play is very much of the ilk that; toys that do less, actually do more for your child.
